Billy McLaughlin
Sep. 27th, 2001 09:00 pmBilly McLaughlin is an impressive guitarist. He plays acoustic guitar in the two hand tapping style. (That means he doesn't press the string with one hand and pluck it with the other, he presses the string abruptly enough that it vibrates so he doesn't have to strum it. And he does this with both hands, so he can play twice as many notes as the average player). I've seen it done before, but Billy plays with the right hand over the neck playing the low strings.
He looked kind of odd. He plays with his eyes closed or rolled back in his head, and he sways back and forth. With the odd way he holds the guitar, he looked like Stevie Wonder playing a clarinet. Cyn said, "When he sways and looks up the the air like that, it looks like he's receiving transmissions from outer space."
Jeff Arundel was the opening act. He is a good guitarist, and his singer, Keri Noble is a great singer.
