Jethro Tull

I took Michele to this show. She was a fan of Tull, but wasn't thrilled about going, since she wasn't feeling well. I had to give her the ticket. We were in the 18th row, on the center aisle. Bill and a friend were there too, also on the floor, just past the halfway mark.

Fairport Convention was an old folkie band, then led by Dave Pegg, also Tull's bassist at the time. I loved Ric Sanders's electric violin solo. He used a lot of of toys, like echoplexes and such.

Tull had just released Crest of a Knave, which I liked. Some good rocking tunes, plus some synthesizer, with a good mix of their seventies classics. Not to mention their usual juvenile bawdiness. Seems there was a riding crop involved with "Hunting Girl". Almost no pre-Aqualung songs. I know they played "Skating Away", one of my favorites. Set lists from the era (but not this show), list "Wind Up" as the show closer. That's another of my favorites, and I don't remember it at all. Of course, this is 23 years later.
